With origins dating back to 1913, the Association of British Investigators is now recognised as the premier professional body for private investigators working in the United Kingdom. Throughout its long history, the Association has worked hard to improve the standing and reputation of the investigative professional.

The Institute of Professional Investigators was founded in 1976. Current representation within the Institute's membership includes Police, MOD, Customs, Local Government, Private Investigators, insurance, accident, Royal Mail, DSS, arson, fraud, forensic and in-house investigators operating nationally and internationally.

With origins dating back to 1921, W.A.D. is the longest established and largest International Association of its kind in the world and remains the leading International Association for Professional Investigators and Security Service organizations.
